As drafter and guardian of the software architecture, within our development environment, you translate frameworks and principles from functional and non-functional specifications into building standards for the developers. In setting these frameworks, the quality of the applications is paramount. You ensure that applications are built and you supervise software developments. You do this by actively contributing to preparatory processes and preparing the necessary architecture documents. You take into account the controllability and manageability of the processes and applications in connection with the infrastructure.
You advise the IT management and the DevOps teams on relevant technological software developments, taking into account future-proofing, maintainability, costs and available expertise. Because you think out-of-the-box and provide future-oriented advice, one thing is certain; as IT, we develop modern and high-quality software solutions, from which our business reaps the benefits.
Together with your fellow architects, responsible for decisions about the technologies, standards and frameworks to be used. Where necessary, you coach fellow architects and make an active contribution to knowledge sharing. Since you are a skilled developer yourself, you advise, guide and in some cases help build applications. In this you have an important role in monitoring the quality of the development activities and testing against the prescribed architecture standards.
As a Software Architect you are part of one of the 40 DevOps teams of the IT & Data department. A DevOps team consists of agile analyst(s), test analyst(s), java developer(s), OPS-er(s) and a product owner from the business. We expect them all to work T-shaped. This means that in addition to your own specialization, you are also able to take on other tasks within a DevOps team and are driven to deepen and broaden your knowledge. In addition to your direct DevOps colleagues, you also work a lot with project or product managers and users in this position.
Within the IT & Data department we work agile, so your working day starts with a daily stand-up. You discuss how yesterday went, what your planning is today and whether there are still issues. Looking back is also very important to us, so at the end of the sprint you have a retrospective with your team. Here you discuss how the last sprint went, looking at what went well and what could be improved.
