As drafter and guardian of the software architecture, within our development environment, you translate frameworks and principles from functional and non-functional specifications into building standards for the developers. In setting these frameworks, the quality of the applications is paramount. You ensure that applications are built and you supervise software developments. You do this by actively contributing to preparatory processes and preparing the necessary architecture documents. You take into account the controllability and manageability of the processes and applications in connection with the infrastructure.

You advise the IT management and the DevOps teams on relevant technological software developments, taking into account future-proofing, maintainability, costs and available expertise. Because you think out-of-the-box and provide future-oriented advice, one thing is certain; as IT, we develop modern and high-quality software solutions, from which our business reaps the benefits.

Together with your fellow architects, responsible for decisions about the technologies, standards and frameworks to be used. Where necessary, you coach fellow architects and make an active contribution to knowledge sharing. Since you are a skilled developer yourself, you advise, guide and in some cases help build applications. In this you have an important role in monitoring the quality of the development activities and testing against the prescribed architecture standards.

As a Software Architect you are part of one of the 40 DevOps teams of the IT & Data department. A DevOps team consists of agile analyst(s), test analyst(s), java developer(s), OPS-er(s) and a product owner from the business. We expect them all to work T-shaped. This means that in addition to your own specialization, you are also able to take on other tasks within a DevOps team and are driven to deepen and broaden your knowledge. In addition to your direct DevOps colleagues, you also work a lot with project or product managers and users in this position.

Within the IT & Data department we work agile, so your working day starts with a daily stand-up. You discuss how yesterday went, what your planning is today and whether there are still issues. Looking back is also very important to us, so at the end of the sprint you have a retrospective with your team. Here you discuss how the last sprint went, looking at what went well and what could be improved.

Each task is managed by a task manager. The position of Software Architect falls under the task IT Production. The IT production of the CJIB offers IT solutions for our business. This mainly concerns software and application development. This is performed by highly motivated IT professionals, who work fully agile and divided into approximately 40 DevOps teams.

To demand:

  • HBO diploma supplemented with specialization software architecture.
  • Command of the Dutch language in word and writing.
  • Agile / Devops experience.

To wish:

  • You have demonstrable university work/thinking level, in addition you have at least a completed HBO education (IT).
  • You have knowledge of and experience with Continuous Delivery, software development lifecycle, DevOps and AgIe/Scrum.
  • Knowledge of and extensive experience with programming environments, software development and design patters.
  • Knowledge and extensive experience of the development languages ​​and frameworks that are used is a plus: Java, Spring (Boot), JPA, REST, JMS, etc..
  • Experience with data modeling (BPMN).
  • Knowledge of and experience with Cloud architectures, network solutions, Docker, Kubernetes and Azure.
  • You have insight into organizational, process and professional context in connection with the application landscape.
